What happens on the day
A typical heat treatment of a two bedroom flat, hour by hour. Times vary with the size of the property, and your booking confirmation gives your arrival window.
TYPICAL DAY, TIMES VARY WITH PROPERTY SIZE
- ABOUT AN HOUR BEFOREWe phone, and send you a messageOur desk phones you with an estimated arrival time and sends you a message too, so please keep your phone with you. On the day, the desk is your contact for everything, and your case manager gets a copy of every message.
- ARRIVALArrival and walk throughYour technician arrives with photo ID. Every treatment starts with a short inspection. Then you sign the Authority to Treat, give us your keys (or we already hold them) and walk through the property with us.
- HOUR 1Sensors placed in every roomCalibrated sensors go in the cold spots of every room being heated, each photographed in place. Kitchens, toilets and bathrooms are not heated or monitored.
- HOUR 2Heater positioned, and you leaveThe heater goes outside and blows clean, hot air into your home through ducting. Heating begins, and nobody may be inside the property while it is being heated, so you leave.
- HOURS 2 TO 6The property heats upThe heat is applied low and slow, controlled from the coldest sensors. We check the property at least every hour.
- AROUND HOUR 6Heating complete, and cooling startsWhen the heating is complete, the heater is switched off. We open at least two windows at different ends of the property to cool it, and we take a carbon monoxide reading before we leave.
- WHEN THE TEAM LEAVESYour report and your Certificate of TreatmentYour treatment report and your Certificate of Treatment are sent to you on WhatsApp as the team leaves. We leave your windows as you told us, and return your keys however you asked.
- ABOUT TWO HOURS AFTER WE FINISHYou go back inWe advise waiting at least two hours after treatment finishes, which is about an hour after we leave. You choose when to return. We aim for 30°C inside, and 35°C or below is safe.
- THE NEXT MORNINGA message from your case managerAbout 9am your case manager messages you to see how you are and to remind you of what to expect.
- DAY 10A few photographsYour case manager asks for a few photographs so we can issue your Clearance Certificate.
- DAY 14Your clearance checkYour clearance check, from your photographs, and your Clearance Certificate. Your warranty has already started.
What your neighbours will see
A quiet heater unit outside your door or on the walkway for about six hours, tucked into the doorway recess, and a technician coming and going. No vans marked with pest control. Nothing is sprayed outside your home.
Where you sleep
Where you spend the night of your treatment is entirely up to you. Our advice is to sleep in your own bed, in your own home, once we have handed it back to you. That is the best way to be sure the treatment has worked, and it is what we would do ourselves.
